Female infanticide are continuing evil practices in India. The preference for boys during childbirth has led to a skewed sex ratio. This discrimination continues in marriage, job, health and education. Piplantri panchayat have initiated campaigns to save the girl child and give them equal rights.
For every girl born in Piplantri, villagers plant 111 trees ensuring the girl and the trees survive initiating afforestation as well. This has reduced cases of child marriage, along with turning Piplantri into a green oasis.
